Personal recommendation
I understand why some people dislike this book. I still think everyone should read it young. It opens a completely different way of thinking about money, and that stays with you.
What the book is about
Two fathers, two ways of thinking about money, told as Kiyosaki’s own story. The core of it is the difference between what earns for you and what costs you.
What to expect
Written with AI and checked by me. The score and the personal recommendation above are mine.
Kiyosaki sets two father figures against each other, his own educated father and the businessman father of a friend, and uses them to argue about money.
- The central distinction is between what puts money in your pocket and what takes it out, and he counts a house as the second.
- The poor father's advice, study hard and get a safe job, is treated as the trap.
- Practical content is thin. The book is mostly about how you think about money, not what to do on Monday.
- The rich dad has never been identified and is widely taken to be invented or composite.
- Some of the specific advice, especially on property and on taxes, is questionable and rooted in the American system.
The framing has changed how a lot of people see money. Check every concrete claim against a better source.
